This week, as part of an exciting story I told my class, I also took some photos. This provided the students with an opportunity to write about what they see in the photo. How do they feel when it is snowing? Have they touched snow before? What does snow feel like? What do they think could be happening? What do they see in the photo? Describe it.
I will post up their pieces of work when they have completed their publishing. This is interesting, because we will be doing our e-Asstle shortly, so it will be good practice for the children.

Literacy ... Oral Language ... Writing Programme ...
Reading through some of the Ministry books, I find myself somewhat confused. Finding which type of programme or strategy will work for me and for my class.
I like the idea of some and yet how can I use them to the best of my ability, and how it it that I can use them to make the most out of my learning community.
I enjoy the use of Reading Rockets, because it takes some pressure off when planning. It also has focus skills that can be highlighted, and as I look back on my planning for the term, I know what I have done with certain reading groups. From there I should be able to pin point what the students need to work on.

Support
Have been to my second PRT PD this week. Although I was contemplating whether I wanted to go or not, I went anyway. I am glad that I went, and I also appreciate that I have as much support as I want to have. Listening to other PRT has made me realise just how lucky and fortunate I am to have a supportive backing. Without these people (too many to name), I would be pulling my hair out and be lost.
Although there were only 4 of us at the PD, I felt that it was worthwhile, because we could actually talk to one another in depth, rather than discuss important things to us, on the surface.
